Chelsea Flower Show 2019

This years flower show at Chelsea seemed to be about childhood memories and water. Water, water everywhere, in the guise of small ponds to flowing waterfalls. As usual Press Day comprised many VIPs and celebs wandering about, with varying degrees of interest in flora and fauna. Most popular with queues throughout the week was the garden in part designed by HRH Duchess of Cambridge, reflecting her childhood memories; a pond, tree house and swing. A huge waterfall featured in our clients, Trailfinders’ garden, reflecting the undiscovered forests of Latin America. Another featured in the lock of the Yorkshire Garden. David Austin Roses received their 25th gold medal – completely unsurpassed in the show’s history. A great show, but perhaps next year we could see more gardens, large and small, which reflect the reality of normal people’s gardens!

Dame Judi Dench at the Unveiling and Dedication of ‘The Conversion of St Paul’

Dame Judi Dench delighted guests at St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden by formally launching the sculpture by renowned Bruce Denny.  The 80 yr old, resplendent in a beautiful cream outfit,  commented that although she’d been unable to see the eclipse earlier that morning, she was pleased to see the sun now shining and declared it was ‘…  a wonderful way to welcome Bruce Denny’s lovely statue’.  The cutting of the ribbon followed a formal service held in the church, commonly referred to as The Actor’s Church, with the Rev’d Richard Syms and the Rev’d Simon Grigg in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowen Williams, and numerous actors/actresses.
